How to Pack the Perfect Father’s Day Hamper (A Step-by-Step Guide)
Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to spoil the dad, grandpa, or father figure in your life. And honestly, what’s more thoughtful than a beautiful hamper filled with all his favourite things? It’s personal, fun to put together, and feels so much more special than a single gift.
If you’ve never made one before, don’t worry; we’ll take you through it step-by-step…
Step 1: Start With a Lovely Basket or Box
You can use:
-
A wicker basket (classic and reusable)
-
A wooden crate
-
A gift box
-
Even a sturdy storage box he can use later!
Try to choose something fairly deep so you can layer items nicely. If you want it to look extra special, line the bottom with tissue paper or a soft tea towel.

Step 2: Add the Main Treats!
Now for the fun part: the snacks! Think of things he wouldn’t normally buy himself but would absolutely enjoy. A nice mix works best!
Here are a few ideas:
-
Gourmet crisps
-
Nice nuts, a graze mix or fancy popcorn
-
Chocolate bars or protein bars if he’s watching his middle!
-
His fave childhood sweets
-
A nice chorizo or salami
-
A jar of posh pickles
-
Cheese crackers
-
Chutney or relish
-
Nice honey or jam
(It’s good to try to mix sweet and savoury so there’s something for every mood!)
Step 3: Pop in bottles!
A couple of nice drinks instantly make the hamper feel more special. They don’t have to be alcoholic - there are loads of nice fizzy drinks and fancy cordials out there if he’s not keen on the beers. You could include:
-
Craft beers
-
Local ales
-
A small bottle of whisky
-
Mini gin bottles
-
Cider
-
Alcohol-free beer if he prefers
-
Fancy cordial to jazz up his water bottle
If you’re adding bottles, tuck them toward the back so they give the hamper height!
Step 4: Add Some Little Gifty Bits
This is where the personality really comes in. These little extras make the hamper feel thoughtful and tailored just for him:
-
Soft dad socks
-
A mug with a sweet sentiment
-
A keyring
-
A little gadget - Mark loves this timer!
-
A nice soap or body wash
-
A reusable coffee cup
-
A printed photo of your family together
It doesn’t have to be expensive — the sentimental bits are often the favourites.

Step 5: Time For Styling!
Now it’s time to make it look gorgeous. Start by adding all your items to the hamper with taller items like bottles at the back, medium size things in the middle and your mini bits at the front. Tuck shredded paper or tissue paper between to keep everything nicely nestled and upright.
Then it’s time to decorate the hamper! This is where it really starts to feel gift-worthy. There are lots of options:
-
Wrap the whole hamper in clear cellophane
-
Tie with a big ribbon or twine
-
Add a Father’s Day gift tag
-
Clip on a mini photo
-
Get the kids to add stickers!
Step 6: Add a Personal Note
Finally, add a little card! Here are some of our favourite choices.
It doesn’t need to be long, even something simple like: "Happy Father’s Day! Thought you deserved a box full of your favourite things. Love you!"
Trust us when we tell you, that little note will mean the most.
Final Tip: Don’t Overthink It
The best hampers aren’t the most expensive ones. They’re the ones that feel personal. If you fill it with things he genuinely loves, he’ll be absolutely thrilled.
And the best part? You’ll have so much fun putting it together!
